MARINE ENGINES
Home - Collections - Marine Engines

The museum has a collection of working vintage engines, ranging from small steam engines, early outboard motors and single and twin-cylinder inboards, that once powered fleets of "putt-putt" launches throughout the state, through to massive submarine engines and, of course, the triple expansion steam engines in the Forceful and Diamantina.

A highlight is the "SeaGull" collection of the famous British outboard motors covering the period from the 1950's to the 1980's. Many are in working order.

Queensland Maritime Museum Association members are enthusiasts, who, rather than just provide a cosmetic paint job, are dedicated to bringing marine horsepower back to life.
