Our River, Our Stories
31 August, 2008 to 28 November, 2008

Since the earliest days of European exploration and settlement, the development and history of Brisbane has been interconnected with the Brisbane River. Through good and bad, drought and flood, the Brisbane River has influenced the progress and growth of the city.

Using pictures, stories and artefacts from 6 of Brisbane's heritage collections, Brisbane's Living Heritage Network presents an exhibition that captures some of the stories of the river and highlights the river's role in the past. Visit the Queensland Maritime Museum and discover how and why the city of Brisbane has been dependant of the river.

Wooden Boat Association of Queensland
19 September to 21 September, 2008

Queensland Maritime Museum will be the venue for a display of modern and restored wooden boats, organised by the Wooden Boat Association of Queensland. Come and admire the skill of the members in their use of modern wood/epoxy composites to construct their boats. Unlike production boats (fibreglass and tinnies), no two boats are the same. While you are there, check out the marine garage sale and swap meet to see if you can find that missing bit you have been after.
