The Museum has a substantial collection of working vintage engines, ranging from small steam engines, early outboard motors and single and twin-cylinder inboards, that once powered fleets of "putt-putt" launches throughout the state, through to massive submarine engines and, of course, the triple expansion steam engines in Forceful and Diamantina.
A highlight is the "SeaGull" collection of the famous British outboard motors covering the period from the 1950's to the 1980's. Many are in working order.
See the working 1/8 scale model of a triple expansion steam engine, similar to those in Forceful and Diamantina.
Queensland Maritime Museum Association members are enthusiasts, who, rather than just provide a cosmetic paint job, are dedicated to bringing marine horsepower back to life.
