The Museum is registered with the Australian Government under the Cultural Gifts Program and is a Deductible Gift Recipient. Cash gifts to the Museum are tax-deductible in terms of sub-paragraph 78(a)(xxvii) and paragraph 78(1)(aa) of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936. Our Collection Management Policy provides policy guidelines for the donation of objects, documents and artefacts to the Museum. The Museum welcomes offers of donations and assesses all offers in accordance with the Policy.
Items that relate to Australia's maritime heritage may be of interest to the Museum. These could include a photograph, shipping related documents, a painting, a ship model. Our staff will be happy to advise you and explain the procedures and benefits of donating to the Museum Collection. There may be tax deduction benefits for income tax purposes and public acknowledgement of your support if desired.
Financial gifts are welcomed and can be allocated to specific projects at the request of the donor and with the agreement of the Board of Directors. A tax deductible receipt is issued for financial donations. Benefits include deductibility for income tax purposes and public acknowledgement of your support if desired.
Many businesses have helped in the preservation of the Museum Collection by providing a variety of goods and services free of charge or a substantially reduced cost, from marine coatings and adhesives and a wide variety of other materials to shipyard services and transport.
